Jean Gagnon, Ph.D.

Dr Jean Gagnon est psychologue clinicien, neuropsychologue et professeur titulaire au Département de psychologie de l’Université de Montréal. Il est aussi candidat au Canadian Institute of Psychoanalysis – Quebec English (CIP QE). Son domaine d’enseignement est l’évaluation psychologique, les théories de la personnalité et la psychanalyse. Il est chercheur régulier au Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire en réadaptation du Montréal métropolitain (CRIR). Il est membre de l’Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ), de l’International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), et membre fellow de l’International Society for Research on Aggression.
Dr Gagnon possède une double formation soit en psychologie clinique et en neuropsychologie. Il a pratiqué comme neuropsychologue en réadaptation et comme psychologue clinicien en cabinet privé durant près de 15 ans. Il a aussi été consultant auprès du Programme Régional d’Expertise Multidisciplinaire en Trouble Grave du Comportement et formateur pour la Société de l’Assurance Automobile du Québec. Il a débuté sa carrière académique à l’Université de Sherbrooke en 2006 et est maintenant professeur à l’Université de Montréal depuis 2008. Tant dans ses activités d’enseignement que dans ses projets de recherche, il peut mettre à profit une longue expérience clinique et ses connaissances théoriques en psychologie et en neuropsychologie.

Dr. Jean Gagnon is both a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist, as well as a full professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Montreal. In private practice, he is a senior psychologist and candidate psychoanalyst at the Canadian Institute of Psychoanalysis – Quebec English (CIP QE). His teaching fields include psychological evaluation, theories of personality, and psychoanalytic theory and clinical practice. He is also a regular researcher at the “Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire en réadaptation du Montréal métropolitain” (CRIR), and a member of the “Ordre des psychologues du Québec” (OPQ), the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), and fellow member of the International Society for Research on Aggression.
Dr. Gagnon has dual training in both clinical psychology and neuropsychology. For nearly fifteen years, he practiced as a neuropsychologist in rehabilitation, and worked as a clinical psychologist in his private practice. He was also a consultant for the “Programme régional d’expertise multidisciplinaire en trouble grave du comportement”, and an instructor for the “Société de l’Assurance Automobile du Québec” (SAAQ). In 2006, he began his academic career at the University of Sherbrooke. He is currently at the University of Montreal, where he has been a professor since 2008. Both in his teaching activities and research projects, he draws on his extensive clinical experience and theoretical knowledge in the field of psychology and neuropsychology.
